Well, I tried to embed a video in this here blog, but it didn't work. I'm still trying to figure this whole cyber reporting thing out. Maybe, that will be my New Year's resolution, to be more cyber-mind. Either way. Be safe and have a Happy New Year! I'll blog at you next year.

   We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our new neighbors (Harvest Hill/Wheat Land, Tecumseh Township) for the beautiful wreath.

What a nice surprise! I am certain we will love the neighborhood!

I hope the School Board has saved enough money to run the schools next year if this project goes through. Because if they are thinking of a millage increase, I do not think there will be the slightest chance of it passing; unless the economy gets a whole lot better. I am predicting the jobless rate is going to continue upward next year. In fact, the economy is going to get much worse. And threatening to cancel sports and band programs is not going to work. The Daily Telegram continues to publish 3-5 pages of home foreclosures weekly. But the school system appears to totally ignore the depressed situation around them. I was told recently there are 17 Tecumseh School students without homes. But a new football field and eight-lane track are much more important.

In the months before the election I noticed many letters from Doug Myers. His letters basically consisted of whatever Governor Palin accused now President-Elect Obama of doing and very inaccurate descriptions of Obama’s economic plan.   I cite one specific example.

“Am I the only one who has noticed that Obama’s “tax cut” (Redistibutionist verbal slight of mouth where the commonly accepted meaning of welfare is redefined as a “Tax Cut”) has recently gone from $250,000 to $200,000 and now yesterday Biden said $150,000?”- Doug Myers in one of his many letters to the editor
Mr. Myers, it never changed. Anyone below 199,999 will see their taxes go down, anyone who makes in-between 200,000 and 249,000 won’t see any difference, anyone over 250,000 will see them go up.  That’s what it’s been since month two of his campaign.

But the fact is, the election is over (for the most part, there are still some senate races currently in recount.)  Mccain-Palin lost, Barrack Obama in a month or so WILL be our President.  So please, rather then throw stones before the President has even made one decision, give Obama a chance. 

He is not the one who has been President for the past 8 years.  To refresh your memories the man who forced us in a false war, drained the economy until finally in the last days of his presidency  he starts referring to it as what it has been for years.  The man who is slated to forever be referred to in textbooks (at least accurate ones) as the worst president of all time, was chosen by the GOP.  It seems like you people have forgotten that President Bush has a little R next to his name.

Gerry Kirn, 59, of Tecumseh, passed away December 19, 2008, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born July 8, 1949 in Ypsilanti, MI the son of Raymond and Olive (Dunlap) Kirn.  On July 14, 1967, he married Anita Bloss in Detroit, MI and she survives.   

Gerry worked at Ypsilanti Powertrain for 41 years as a Material Handler.  His passions were riding his Harley, Nascar, fishing, his flower garden and the pond.   Gerry was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh.  He was a loving family man and his life was centered around his family.  

Besides his loving wife Anita, Gerry is survived by his children, Theresa (Sean Kazmierczak) Kirn, Dale (Dawn) Kirn both of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Karmen,  Danielle, and Kelsey and Dylan and Deaven all of Tecumseh; parents; siblings, Skip, Glen, Linda, Diane, Tim, Ken, and Steve and numerous nieces and nephews.  
He was preceded in death by a brother in law, John Hoyer and a nephew, Allan Smitley.

A Mass of the Christian Burial was held Monday,  December 22, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating.  Burial followed in Brookside Cemetery.

Rose Savcic, 72, of the Irish Hills, passed away December 20, 2008.  Rose was born October 8, 1936  in Lorain, Ohio.   

Rose worked at the Sand Lake Inn since 1960 when the former proprietors hired her to be a waitress and nanny to their daughter.  After  they brought their son Mlado (Mike) over from Yugoslavia, the two met and married in 1965.  He survives.   
In 1980, Rose and Mike acquired the restaurant from Mike's parents and continued to operate to the present.  Rose also owned and operated the Hairitage Beauty Salon in the Irish Hills from 1970 to 2004.  

Besides her husband, Mike, Rose is survived by her son, Darko;  granddaughter, GeeGee and her mother Erica; mother in law, Millie; sister in law, Vera and her sister, Theresa.  

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Fr. Russ Kohler and Fr. Zivko Kajevic officiating.  Burial will follow in Franklin Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be 1 to 3  and  5 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2008, at the J.
