ROLAND EUGENE BOYERS

Roland Eugene Boyers, 85, of Tecumseh died at Herrick Medical Center in Tecumseh Tuesday, February 19, 2008 with his loving family at his bedside. He was born January 29, 1923 in Wauseon, Ohio, the son of Glen and Anna Viola (Fouty) Boyers. He was married to Patricia Maye on November 30, 1946 and she preceded him in death on December 12, 1998.

Roland was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tecumseh. He was employed as the produce department head for A & P Grocery Company for 27 years, retiring in 1978. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry, was an avid sportsman and camper, and enjoyed 21 years wintering in Newport Richey, FL with his wife prior to her death. Roland loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the D.A.V., a former member of Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge #69 in Tecumseh.

Roland is survived by three sons, Gene (Marilyn) Boyers and Rick (Jan) Boyers both of Tecumseh and Bob (Kathy) Boyers of Manitou Beach, one daughter, JoAnn (Joe) Randall of Tecumseh; one brother, Alan (Maretta) Boyers of Wauseon, OH; two sisters, Jeanette (Howard) Holman of Wauseon, OH, and Shirley (Dick) Nagy of Gladstone, MO' seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Pat. Roland will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes on Friday, February 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 23 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tecumseh with Pastor Richard Webb officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.


JOSEPHINE JACOBS

Josephine Jacobs, 88, of Jackson, died Feb. 10, 2008, at Foote Hospital.  Cremation has taken place.  Arrangrments by J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.


TINA MARIE JENNINGS

Tina Marie Jennings, 32, of Grover Hill, OH, died Feb. 17, 2008. Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at God's House of Prayer at Lowmansville, KY.
Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Staffordsville, KY, under the direction of Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville, KY. Local arrangements were entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.


EDITH MARIE “EDIE” BOYLE

Edith Marie “Edie” Boyle, 89, of Tecumseh died Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Cambrian Assisted Living in Tecumseh. She was born May 6, 1918 in Detroit, the daughter of Bruno Charles and Emma Marie (Hohl) Kullen. She was married to Kenneth F. Boyle on April 19, 1941 and he preceded her in death on September 5, 1970.

Edie was a bookkeeper for over 20 years for the August Company. Prior to that, she was an elementary school secretary in the Lenawee County area. She was a lover of dogs and enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing bridge, and spending time near the water. Edie had a fantastic sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Eddie is survived by one son, Michael (Colleen) Boyle of Ninety-Six, South Carolina; one daughter, Patricia Daly of Bloomfield Hills; two grandchildren, Patrick (Erica) Daly and Erin (Bret) Stuntz. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.

Visitation was held at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes on Sunday, February 17, 2008.  The funeral mass was celebrated on Monday, February 18 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh with the Rev. Father Daniel Wheeler as Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lenawee County Humane Society.

JOHN E. CLEGG

John E. Clegg, 65, of Adrian, passed away Monday, February 18, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born June 3, 1942, in Adrian, to Robert and Lillian (Osenko) Clegg.  On August 19, 1972, he married Connie Jarosemich in Monroe, and she survives.  John served in the US Navy from 1961 to 1965.   He was a member of the Adrian Moose Lodge where he served as governor, and also a member of the Adrian Eagles.

John was an outdoor dad, he loved golfing, bowling, playing softball, coaching baseball and fishing.  He was an avid University of Michigan football fan.   John will be dearly missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Jason Clegg of Columbus, OH and Jackie Clegg of Kalamazoo, MI; and three nieces, Tammy, Sarah and Allison Clegg.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Russell.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at the Anderson Funeral Home.  Funeral services were private.  Cremation followed the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family of John Clegg or to Hospice of Lenawee.  Envelopes are available at the Anderson Funeral Home.


LEO JOSEPH DUBUC

Leo Joseph Dubuc, 83, of Adrian passed away February 14.  Born July 26, 1924, in Detroit, MI.  of French speaking parents.  This was his first language but you wouldn’t have known it.  He graduated from Mackenzie High School and married Gloria Jean Quesnell in 1946.  She preceded him in death in 1985.  He then married Bonnie Richard on June 9, 1990, in Manitou Beach, she survives.  

He lived for many years in Allen Park, MI, then for many more in the Irish Hills, Adrian, and Lady Lake, Florida. He was a proud WWII Veteran, originally as a communications expert in the 101st Airborne, But he actually served in the OSS (Office of Strategic Service) in intelligence gathering and special forces work all over Europe and Asia.  He was a paratrooper and demolition expert and worked extensively with the French Underground in Nazi occupied France.  His war exploits and experiences are too numerous to list but are the stuff that the most amazing intelligence and special forces stories are made of that you read about and see in books, documentaries and movies.  He received two  Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for bravery but was also decorated by many European Governments for his work with their underground movements, sometimes receiving their highest possible military honors.  He was a member of the V.F.W. and various military organizations.  He was a member of the Lenawee Country Club and the Father Sayler Knights of Columbus in Allen Park.
