Thanks Fire Departments For All They Do

To the Editor, All this discussion about cats reminded us of the old commercial of a Fireman on ladder rescuing a cat up a tree and distracted us from sincerely thanking all the Fire Fighters that helped so many of us during this last storm. With trees blocking roads and poles and wires down they did a wonderful job in responding to us and to others that evening. Our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. Herald photo was ‘biased’ and ‘misleading’ on cat issue

To the Editor,A lot has been said lately about the feral cat/domestic cat situation in Tecumseh. If you haven't had the pleasure of experiencing a Cat Colony in your neighborhood then this may not be of concern to you. But for those of us who have we ask that you please reconsider the problem. Because if not dealt with this colony may end up on your block and the health and safety implications for you and your family and pets are important.Semantics are everything. What is tame? What is domesticated? What is Feral? What is a Cat Colony?

To the Editor,I would like to acknowledge and applaud all those involved in the TYT’s recent production of The Wizard of Oz. There is tremendous talent in this community, and I hope our citizens will continue to embrace and support the efforts of TYT. Jana PorterfieldTipton

Neutered cats are healthier, calmer, make better pets

To the Editor,I am writing in regards to the feral cat problem a problem brought on by ourselves. I am sorry to see the animals have to suffer because of us. Cats don’t have to be a year old to have kittens, can have up to three litters a year and up to six kittens a litter. A few years ago we had a bunch of kittens outside and my daughter and I got all the kittens, with the help of an organization live trapped several of the adults and since then we have had and have regularly one of the actual cats that was live trapped and one other one.

What alternatives to health care have critics of ACA offered?

To the Editor, The rollout of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has been an unmitigated disaster causing untold inconveniences, disappointments, and represents a failure on the part of the government and the current administration. Presidents Obama’s inaccurate and misleading explanations regarding currently owned healthcare policies were a significant error and reflect very poorly on him and his administration. Both of these breaches of public confidence have been acknowledged, owned and amends (solutions) offered.

‘Feral cat colonies will be here with or without our help,’ vet says

To the Editor,I am writing in response to last week’s letter about the feral cat situation in Tecumseh. I was contacted by Mr. Welch about the ongoing cat issues in Tecumseh. I told him that trying to get rid of all the feral cats in Tecumseh is like trying to get rid of all the skunks, raccoons, rabbits and squirrels in the city limits. It isn’t going to happen! I explained that we have been a proponent of the capture, neuter/spay and return method. We perform at least 10-12 surgeries per week through the cat-snips organization at a much reduced cost.

Tecumseh Place II provides care for those with dementia/Alzheimer’s

To the Editor,The recent article concerning the March opening planned for the new Cambrian Memory Care Center was excellent news with one minor correction. The article stated, “Since families typically need to travel outside of Lenawee County to find such specialized services.” Actually, Tecumseh Place, Inc. at 1311 Southwestern Dr. in Tecumseh has been providing quality Alzheimer (and other dementia) care since 1995. They, too, have recently expanded their capacity for this service with a $2 million dollar addition to their facilities.Tom HawkinsTecumseh
