Best Thanksgiving Greetings

turkeydaygfairy005a.jpg

I'm sitting here in my corner at the Herald gearing up for tomorrow's feast. Not that that takes a whole lot of gearing up. It does for my dear partner J, who is doing all the cooking. I'l just be eating and visiting. I won't be blogging on Thanksgiving, so I figured I'd wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving on Wednesday, the travel day. Be safe, eat plenty. I'll blog at you on the flip side.

Hospice of Lenawee a ‘God send’ for the Fielder Family

To the Editor,

We would sincerely like to thank Hospice of Lenawee for making my Dad’s last days easier.  You are a God send.

A special thank you to Gretchen Streussnig, Kelly Hicks, Amanda Crawford and Gail Blum and the many others for all you did for my Dad.  You are truly very special.

Thank you to the Meals on Wheels for bringing out food to my Dad.  Thank you for taking the time to get to know him as a person and listening to his stories.  He truly loved you all and couldn’t wait for his ladies to come see him.

Thank you to Purse Funeral Home for making things a little easier.  You are all such blessings.

Valuable lessons learned through preschool program

To the Editor,

Thank you Tecumseh Public Schools South Site Preschool Families! We work hard to incorporate a year-long theme into our daily play and learning known as “Caring is Sharing.” This became very evident with our November Food Drive. We collected over 250 items of food! This was combined with our North Site Friends, LISD, Porter Center and Head Start Preschools for a total of nearly 400 items.

The food along with creative cards, were delivered to both the “Dinner’s On Us” program and the Tecumseh Service Club. It brings me great pride to see this generosity especially in these tough economic times.

The kids were eager to track their daily progress on a graph and color the number of items donated; while at the same time learning a valuable life lesson. Please know you have helped to make a big difference in the lives of many.

Thanksgiving dinner serves over 350 at Clinton church

To the Editor,

On Saturday, Nov. 21, the Clinton United Church of Christ hosted our ninth Thanksgiving dinner for the senior citizens of our community. Over three hundred and fifty dinners were served. The idea behind this dinner is to provide our senior citizens with an opportunity to socialize with each other and enjoy a home cooked meal with friends. We don’t want our senior citizens to think that it’s only for the needy or those who are unable to prepare their own meal.

We were able to provide this meal free of charge because of a number of local businesses and individuals who donated food or money. Thanks to Busch’s in Clinton for donating 10 large turkeys and 20 pumpkins pies.

Thanks to DuRussell Farms of Manchester for donating all the potatoes. Thanks to Carolyn Dicks and Jim and Wanda Fish for donating the vegetables. Thanks to all the men and women of the United Church of Christ and a number of people from other local churches who worked throughout the day. Thanks also to the Clinton Brownie troop for helping with clearing and resetting the tables. Thanks also to a number of Clinton Rotarians who helped on Friday and Saturday.

Thanks to a number of members of the Clinton Baptist Church who came and did a fantastic job in helping to clean up. And finally, a really big special thanks to Shirley Fraley and Marianne Steffens and their group who did a tremendous job preparing all the food.

This is a special event for the seniors of our community. It was a pleasure to see their smiling faces and know they enjoyed the time they shared with their friends. It was also an enjoyable experience for those of us who worked. We hope to serve more next year.
