Tecumseh boys bouncing back

When watching Tecumseh's varsity boys basketball team step out on their home court to open the season last Friday (12/11/09) I saw something I wasn't accustomed to last season - confidence with a go get ‘em attitude. Instead of falling apart after falling behind, the Indians pressed the issue and took control of the situation. Even if they hadn't won the contest, which they did soundly, the look and feel of the team had me telling anyone who'd listen that this was going to be a much better season.

When getting to the office this morning, I had a fax in my box with the results from their following game on Monday at home against Ida, the team that downed a tough Clinton squad only days before. I expected a loss, nothing personal boys, but figured it would be a close contest. It was closer than I expected with the Indians downing the Bluestreaks 48-41.

Now you naysayers go right ahead and talk all the smack you want about how they only beat a pair of non-conference teams. This team is as solid looking as it’s been in years, right after a one win season. Tecumseh coach Brandon Schmidt has been telling me since taking the job that he just needs a little time to build up the program. By the look of things he and his boys have been working overtime to make it happen.
