Tecumseh’s varsity softball team played in Canton’s Tournament on Saturday, May 11 and recorded three ties.The Indians tied Belleville 9-9, Canton 2-2 and Plymouth 5-5.Belleville and Plymouth advanced to the seven-team tournament’s final.“Having played against three pretty good teams, three ties is not all bad, but the disappointment comes with the fact that we made one or two mistakes in each game that cost us a chance at winning all three games,” said Tecumseh head coach Jeff Nowak.

Tecumseh’s varsity boys golf team placed third in a quad meet on Monday, May 13, at home.The Indians beat rival Adrian 185-197 to place third. Saline placed first in the event with a score of 155 while Ann Arbor Pioneer was second with 162. Cam Clarke lead the Indians with a round of 44 while Drew Kapnick and Ian Quick finished two strokes back of their teammate with 46 each. Josh Campbell carded a 49 for Tecumseh.The Indians were scheduled to play Dexter at home on Wednesday, May 15. On Friday, May 17, Tecumseh is scheduled to play a make-up round against Ypsilanti at Pine View Golf Club.

Katherine Joanne McKenzie, age, 71 of Tecumseh died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. She was born July 28, 1941 in Franklin Township to Harold and Dortha (VanWinkle) Sherrard.

To the Editor,I read the article in the Tecumseh Herald regarding skin infections among the wrestling team. As the mother of a Tecumseh varsity wrestler, I was surprised that such an article would appear in the paper two months after the end of wrestling season.Knowing the recent controversy with the repeated attempted firing of coach Greathouse, I was hoping for a balanced and informative article. Unfortunately, it became clear quickly that this was another attempt to discredit and malign coach Greathouse. One has to question the motive behind such an article.

To the Editor, Please cue the violins and bring in the cheese and crackers. The TDL board’s response to Mr. Abraham notes a fund decrease in 2010 and 2011 like it was something terrible. The negative change in 2010/11 was a direct impact of the “planned” $800,000 TDL remodeling. Please note that the majority of the $800,000 came from our tax dollars not from endowments as stated in the editorial response. The TDL is managing our tax dollars and I would expect them to be a lot more transparent in reporting what they do, and plan to do, with our tax dollars.
