NewSong Church to move into former Pines facility

In the years since NewSong Community Church was formed in 2005, Pastor Tom Hawkins envisioned that the church would most likely remain portable, renting space rather than having a physical structure the church would call “home.” But the pastor and his congregation were never ones to ignore the doors they believed God may be opening before them. On Wednesday, Dec. 5, NewSong Community Church closed on the purchase of a facility in Raisin Township, formerly The Pines banquet facility, and will be holding its first service there on Sunday, Dec. 16.

Majority of people do not want unsolicited telephone calls

To the Editor,Unwanted callers continue to invade our home privacy. Now is the time for a strong person to step forward and end this! The vast majority of people do not want marketing calls, survey calls, political calls, and charity calls. Many phone subscribers never vote for a politician who calls, and always avoid giving to charities who call.I thought legislators represented the people. Instead, they tolerate daily attacks against our home, enabled by telephone services paid for with our money.Bill StroudTecumseh

To the Editor,It hardly seems possible that it has been a year and a half since we moved from Tecumseh to the Chattanooga, Tennessee area to be close to our children and grandchildren. Life has been very busy for both of us with volunteering for church functions, nutritional classes, smoking cessation seminars and elementary school health education. My volunteering to teach nursing and medical/dental assistant students; anatomy, physiology, pharmacy, as well as nutritional classes, has kept me from following my wife around the grocery store with a cart!
