A memorial service will be held for Monema J. Baxter on Saturday, December 3, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Tecumseh. Visitation will take place one hour before thememorial service.Baxter, 93, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Oct. 12, 2011. She was born on Jan. 21, 1918, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Arthur Blakey and Beata (Schamerloh) Blakey. On May 20, 1939, she married Oakley Baxter in Decatur, Ind.

Antonio R. “Tony” Vargas, age 75, of Tecumseh, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at home in Tecumseh. Tony and his family were blessed to receive an additional 20 years together through the Gift of Life Program. In January of 1991 he received a liver transplant through the generosity of a donor family. He was born April 10, 1936, in San Antonio, TX, to Domingo and Maria Louisa (Regalado) Vargas. TMS Builders Club reports activities to school board

By DEANE ERTSTecumseh School Board members were introduced to Tecumseh Middle School Builders Club officers at last Monday’s regular meeting. The Builders Club officers had reserved a place on the evening’s agenda to report to the trustees about the club’s recent activities and fundraising projects.TMS fifth grade teacher Kimberley Schmidt is the club’s advisor, and she introduced the Builders to the board. The Builders Club is an organization for middle school students that is supported by local Kiwanis Clubs.

State ceases lowering of dam on Red Mill Pond

Tecumseh School Board seeks millage support to save pool

By DEANE ERTSTecumseh School District voters will have their chance to say whether they will support the Tecumseh Community Memorial Pool with a quarter mill levy after school board members passed a resolution to put the issue on the ballot for a special election on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012.Trustees voted unanimously Monday night in favor of putting the issue of joint maintenance for the pool on a referendum that would levy .25 mill on each $1,000 of taxable valuation for five years in the Tecumseh School District, raising approximately $141,000 annually.

Indians win regional title

VICKI LOU WEINBERG

Vicki Lou Weinberg, 58, of Tecumseh, died in her home on Nov. 15 under the care of Hospice of Lenawee and with her family by her side. She was born Nov. 7, 1953, in Tecumseh, Mich., to the late Clarence and Lois (Downing) Natterstad and lived in Tecumseh all her life. She graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1971 and worked at Johnson Controls mostly in accounting for 14 years followed by FundBalance as a systems analyst and sales administrator for almost 13 years.

DIANA LYNN ROBINSON

Diana Lynn Robinson, age 66, of Onsted passed away Monday, Nov. 14. She was born April 12, 1945 in Tecumseh to John and Polly (Collins) Walden. On Aug. 31, 1963 she married Richard Robinson and he survives.Diana was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a member of the M.B.R.A. Diana enjoyed going to rodeos, she loved horses, and she loved to travel.

JOHN D. BROOKS

John D. Brooks 83 of Ionia, formerly of Long Lake died Sunday morning Nov. 13, 2011 at Sparrow Ionia Hospital. John was born on July 9, 1928 in Tecumseh, the son of John and Edna (Curry) Brooks. He was a proud member of the United States Navy serving just after World War II. During his working years he was a traffic manager at Tecumseh Products. He was a member of the American Legion in Clinton, Michigan. He enjoyed living at Long Lake where he enjoyed fishing just about every day. John was married on Aug.

ROBERT JOHN HERINTON

Robert John Herington, age 63, of Tecumseh, joined his high school sweetheart Nov. 15, 2011. He was born Oct. 27, 1948 in Grand Rapids, Mich. to Charles and Geraldine (Sanger) Herington. On Oct. 12, 1968 he married Brenda Alford.Sadly, she preceded him in death on April 28, 2011.Bob was a member of the Tecumseh Missionary Baptist Church. He worked as a supervisor for Detroit Edison for 33 years before retiring in 2003. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, and traveling and vacationing with his beloved wife.

KIMBERLY KAY MARCINKIEWICZ

Kimberly Kay Marcinkiewicz, 48, of Tecumseh went to be with her Lord on November 14 with her loving family at her side. She was born January 15, 1963 in Adrian, the daughter of Donald and Karen (Snead) Cattell. She was married to her husband Frank Marcinkiewicz on August 16, 1997.Kim was a member of the Tecumseh Church of the Nazarene. She was a graduate of Tecumseh High School, Class of 1981. Kim was a loving mother, wife, and someone who would go out of her way to help those in need. She and Frank were licensed foster parents in Lenawee County.

SHERRY ANN BARRETT

Sherri Ann Barrett, age 21, of Tecumseh, passed away Nov. 10, 2011 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 18, 1990 in Adrian, Mich. the daughter of Gary and Janice (Cousino) Barrett.

Richard Linn, age 77, of Tecumseh began his eternal journey on Tuesday, November 08, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born December 16, 1933 in Britton, MI, the son of Virgil and Grace (Winterstein) Linn. He married Linda Kanous on June 29, 1963 and she survives. Richard was a lifelong resident of the Britton and Tecumseh area. He worked at Ford Motor Company, Ypsilanti Plant, for 30 years, retiring in September of 1994. Richard was a member of the American Legion Post #34 in Tecumseh and past member of Post #155 in Britton.

Richard Linn, age 77, of Tecumseh began his eternal journey on Tuesday, November 08, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.
