Paul F. Roekle, 97, died Friday, June 26, 2009 in Parkview Hospital Hospice Unit in Fort Wayne, Indiana after a short illness.
He was born February 11, 1912 in Palmyra, Michigan to Gottlob and Martha (Wellnitz) Roekle. Paul graduated from Adrian High School in 1929 and was employed by the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company for several years. On June 6, 1934, he married Virginia (Tyke) Sherman of Adrian. She preceded him in death on December 8, 1998. In 1963, Paul and Tyke opened Tecumseh Office Supply (now Quanits Corporation), and Paul retired in 1977. Paul was active in The First Baptist Church in Adrian and Tecumseh for many years. He was an avid bridge player. He was a 32nd degree mason.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his mother and father. Paul is survived by three daughters, Sharon Harris of Adrian, Jan (Don) McCrady of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Beth (Jerry) Fox of Clayton, one son Bryce (Reyna) of Berkley, Michigan, seven grandchildren, Lisa Kuney, Alan, Brian and Diane Copeland, Tami Gooding, Jodi Uloth and Meghan Roekle, nine great grandchildren, two sisters, Ruth Smith of Adrian and Marie Kahn of Ashton, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
