Façade grant program helps shape downtown signage

Economic development in the city of Tecumseh means not just bringing in new business, but also nurturing existing businesses. Economic Development Director Paula Holtz is committed to helping the downtown and its businesses to grow and stay viable.“All of us would identify with the downtown as our core identity,” she said. “That’s where we want to see development.”“If every community had an economic development, city council and city like Tecumseh, they wouldn’t have the vacancies,” said building owner Dan Meikle.

Compassion is allowing cats to live out life in managed colonies

To the Editor,I’m writing to contribute my two cents to the ongoing discussion about roaming cats in Tecumseh. To recap, we are faced with two separate issues here:1. Some cat owners let their animals roam freely outdoors, all the time or part of the time; the owners provide food and shelter.2. Some cats don’t have owners and live outdoors, all the time. They have no food and shelter except what they can provide for themselves. In the first case, it’s undeniable that some people are more responsible than others with their pets.

Supports county proposal for public park on Red Mill Pond

To the Editor,I hope that the DNR officials of Michigan or Lenawee County can purchase the property on Red Mill Pond to develop a small public park.It is a beautiful pond that helps to make Tecumseh a beautiful place to drive into and to live and it would really help those that have worked so hard to keep the pond a beautiful place. I think Mr. Ray Herrick once owned the ground. It would be nice to name it the Ray Herrick Park. He has done so many things for the people of Tecumseh, as many others have also.
