Clinton rolls on with win over ‘Dogs

Another varsity football victory has Clinton rolling on undefeated at 7-0 overall and 5-0 in the Tri-County Conference (TCC). The Redskins blasted past visiting Morenci on Friday, Oct. 5, for a big 42-12 homecoming victory.Clinton dominated the contest from the start, taking a 13-0 lead with rushing touchdowns from quarterback TJ Baker and Collin Poore before allowing the Bulldogs on the board. The Redskins closed the first half with a 28-6 advantage after having Brett Tschirhart and Baker rush in for touchdowns in the second quarter.Both teams scored a touchdown in the third quarter.

Little Indian Preschool thanks supporters of annual fundraiser

To the Editor,On Sept. 22, Little Indian Preschool held its annual Trike-a-thon fundraiser. The event was a big success thanks to all the parents, family members, local contributors and local businesses. We were able to surpass our fundraising goal and raised over $2,900! Plus, the preschoolers had a great time riding their bikes while being cheered on by their families.We would like to thank the following businesses for their generous contributions to this fundraiser: The Butterfly House, Adrian Skatery, Imagination Station, By Nature, Chuck E.

Fundraising for library 50 years ago has had everlasting payoff

To the Editor,Re: page 10 photo “Spacious Stacks Hold Volumes.” Aren’t the two 16 year olds pictured Bonnie Kempf in the foreground, and her close friend and neighbor Allison Derby in the background? Sure looks like them.It is nice to see these 50 year old images and stories weekly, looking back to great times in Tecumseh.I remember my father Vern Manwaring and others working tirelessly for the Tecumseh Community Fund Foundation in their collection of donations and pledges for the building of the new library. At the time I did not understand the effort it took.

Raisin Township mourns loss of supervisor

Tuesday, Oct. 9, was a sad day in Raisin Township as officials and residents learned that their Township Supervisor, Carl Wagner, passed away earlier that day following his brave battle with cancer.Wagner’s affiliation with Raisin Township goes back much farther than his tenure as supervisor that began in 2004.

Voters elect community pool board of directors

Community members elected the first board of directors for the Tecumseh Community Memorial Pool Sunday night, Oct. 7, at an open house held at the pool on North Maumee Street.Interim President of the Friends of the Tecumseh Community Pool (FTCP) Danielle Ward welcomed the public to the open house in preparation for the election. “We are so grateful to the district residents who approved the millage to support the pool,” Ward said.

Volleyball rivals from Adrian and Tecumseh ‘Team Up For A Cure’

While they are rivals on the volleyball court, the Tecumseh and Adrian Girls Volleyball Teams will “Team Up For A Cure” on Tuesday, Oct. 16. This will be the fourth year the teams have alternated in not only hosting games, but a number of activities dedicated to the cause of raising funds to fight breast cancer.

Carl Wagner

Carl Wagner, 73, of Tecumseh, died on October 9, 2012 in his home surrounded by his family under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born February 13, 1939 in Tecumseh, the son of Clarence and June (Sammis) Wagner. On September 4, 1959 he married Kathryn “Kitty” Lidster and she survives.Carl worked for Universal Die Cast in Saline prior to being the Raisin Township Fire Chief from 1970 to 1997 and was also an EMT specialist during that time. He was a trainer for Sweet-Soft Computer out of Iowa which was a fire department and EMS software billing system.

Mary Lander Wilson

A graveside memorial service was held on September 21, 2012 at the Taftsville Cemetery for Mary Lander Wilson, 85, who died September 15 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. The Rev. Norman MacLeod of Saint James Episcopal Church presided.Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert; her children, Charles, of Taftsville, VT. and Anne Cannon, of Pasadena, Calif.; her sister, Dorothy Lincoln, of Tecumseh, Mich.Mary was born October 16, 1926 in Chicago, Ill. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Ohio Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish.

Ronald Kraft

Ronald Kraft, age 87 passed peacefully Oct. 6, 2012. Dear father of Sandra Nastanski, Terry Kraft, Susan Jacobs and step children Marie Beck, Fredrick Beck, Cynthia Duncan, Alesia Newland, the grandfather of 39 and several surviving great grandchildren. Memorial service to be held Saturday Oct. 13, 2012 at Ridgeway Church of the Nazarene.
