Tamra Marie Tiede LaFramboise, age 53, passed away May 30, 2014.Tamra was born July 19, 1960 in Waynesville, Mo., the daughter of Herbert and Leona (Roach) Tiede.On August 29, 1977 she married Daniel T. La Framboise in Tecumseh and he survives.She was a 1978 graduate of Tecumseh High School. She was a loving mother and wonderful cook.In addition to her husband, Daniel, Tamra is survived by her children. Leah Marie LaFramboise Banks, Daniel E. (Krystal Opel) LaFramboise and James M. Donald L. Mueller, 85 of Macon, passed away May 30, 2014 at his home. He was born in Ann Arbor, Mich., on May 3, 1929 to Erna Stilts. Donald was a plant manager for Champion Home Builders in Adrian and retired from R&B Tool Co. in Saline Mich. He was a member of Britton Congregational Church and was a former master of the Grange for several years. Donald enjoyed gardening, woodworking and crafting homemade projects.
It’s time to celebrate the history and architecture of Tecumseh with Promenade Tecumseh on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The tour includes six houses in Tecumseh as well as West Branch School.In addition to the home tours, there are other activities happening throughout the city, including: Art in the Park at John W. Smith Park on Evans St. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
During a special meeting on Tuesday, May 27, the Raisin Township Board of Trustees voted to appoint Township Attorney David Lacasse as the primary contact between the township and defense attorney Heidi Hudson. Trustees Dale Mitchell and Larry Crittenden were absent.Hudson was appointed as the primary defense attorney by ECM Insurance, a company the township contracts with, for a lawsuit alleging the township violated the Open Meetings Act and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The township received the lawsuit and handed it over to ECM Insurance.
ADRIAN — The Adrian Symphony Swing Band will be performing a pops concert, The Andrews Sisters, on Friday, June 6 at 8 p.m. at Dawson Auditorium located on the Adrian College campus. Preceding the concert outside of Dawson Auditorium will be a free Tune-Up Party for all concert goers with the latest cars on display from area dealerships. The Andrews Sisters concert features vocalists Elizabeth Major, Monica Swartout-Bebow, Wendy Bloom and area jazz musicians recreating the sounds and times of one of the most memorable female trios in history.
Several student athletes and a former head coach were honored during Tecumseh’s Senior Athletic Banquet on Thursday, May 22, in the Indians cafetorium.Tecumseh Athletic Director Greg Lewis recognizing all the senior athletes before Principle Griff Mills introduced the Indians’ college bound athletes.Lewis followed by introducing former Tecumseh coach Ed Oxley as the recipient of the Indians Distinguished Service Award.Oxley was the Tecumseh boys basketball coach for 25 years, from 1978 to 2003.
The Tecumseh Public School (TPS) Strategic Planning process that the district launched in August of 2013 could possibly have an impact as far away as China. The director of the Zunyi Carey International School from the Huichuan District in Zunyi, Guizhou, China, was taking the opportunity to shadow TPS Supt. Kelly Coffin on Thursday, May 22, and observed the district’s Strategic Planning Committee Progress Report session that day.“She told us her full name, but she prefers that we just call her by her American name, ‘Wendy,’” said Coffin, sharing a business card.
Tecumseh’s varsity boys golf team traveled to Marshall Country Club for the District qualifier on Tuesday, May 20, and placed fifth to advance for regionals. Of 11 schools and 55 golfers Tecumseh assembled their lowest team score of the season, 341, to earn a spot in the Regional at Mason’s Eldorado Golf Club on Friday, May 31.Marshall placed first in the event with a score of 305 while Western was second with 317.Tecumseh’s Josh Campbell fired an 81 for the Indians, improving 11 strokes from the day before at the Southeastern Conference (SEC) championships.
At the Tuesday, May 27, Tecumseh School Board meeting, Tecumseh Acres Elementary school Principal Carl Lewandowski discussed the Focus School quarterly report for the Tecumseh Acres Elementary School.
The Tecumseh Public School District (TPS) will soon be rounding out its first year of a Strategic Planning process begun last August. TPS staff members who’ve led committees charged with working on 10 goal statements met Thursday, May 22, to share progress reports since their last meeting in February.“I’m excited to hear progress that’s been made and identifying successes because I think it’s very important we celebrate our successes, no matter how small they may seem,” said Supt. Kelly Coffin.

Mae Kathryn Anderson, age 93, of Byron Center, formerly of Tipton passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, at Trillium Woods Hospice Facility. She was born December 28, 1920, in Riga, Mich., to Adam Guernsey and Anna Marie (Steih) Calvin. She married Harold “Mike” Anderson on December 31, 1942, and he preceded her in death on September 4, 1988. Mae was a life-long resident of Tipton and Adrian until she moved to Byron Center in 2008. She drove school bus for the Tecumseh Public School System for 19 years.
