Tecumseh bowler Palmer Ziemer advanced to the Division 2 boys state semifinals for the first time Saturday at Century Lanes in Waterford.

Ziemer qualified for the 16-member playoff as a No. 14 seed after tallying a six-game score of 1,167 (189, 204, 191, 187, 215, 181).

Clinton bowler Paige Shankland advanced to the Division 3 girls state semifinals for the first time Saturday at JAX 60 in Jackson.

Shankland qualified for the 16-member playoff as the 11th seed after recording a six-game score of 1,097 (187, 187, 190, 200, 155, 178).
