To the Editor,It is easy to grumble and complain as our wages are frozen, benefits decreased, and work loads increased. I have benefited from generous public school funding in the days when there was no shortage in the state budget and the flourishing industry in our county provided good jobs and benefits for many. We became accustomed to ample work and steady raises. But then our state economy took a nosedive.
To the Editor,I am writing this today to express my apology to the family and to the young man that was affected by my actions this Saturday during a 6th grade football game played at the high school. I am the official who ended the game early due to what was happening on the field. I have been working these games since the program started over 10 years ago.
To the Editor,I have been doing a lot of learning about our two main candidates for the Presidency. I have watched their debates and listened to them on television interviews. And I have some very real concerns about the effects on our country of a Romney presidency. Many hard-working people in the country who lost their jobs through no fault of their own have no money for insurance. As a former health care professional I know that Medicaid means that their families have basic health care. Some of us depend on Medicaid because we have a loved one who requires nursing home care.
Tecumseh resident and downtown ‘mainstay’ Nadine Seitz will be retiring from Schmidt and Sons Pharmacy on October 27, but she was just 14 when she started working at The Diner, beginning a career in the city that would span more than half a century. Nadine said Henry Hamilton, who built the diner, later sold it to his sister-in-law Mary Ann Hamilton, and Nadine and her mother started working there. Soon, Nadine’s uncles purchased the restaurant and remodeled it.“There have been a lot of changes there over the years,” she said, adding that she worked there for three or four years.

Tecumseh Herald staff writer Deb Wuethrich rode a Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD) preschool bus on October 16 to commemorate Michigan School Bus Safety Week, October 15-19. LISD serves approximately 300 students on its 17 buses throughout the day. Former Sheriff Richard Germond, a LISD School Board member since 2005, also rode the bus driven by Candy Diaz. Tina Torres serves as the bus assistant on the daily run.At 10:40 a.m., bus 05-01 swings into the LISD Transportation parking lot behind the Milton C.

This year, Lenawee United Way has a goal of raising $1 million throughout the county. According to its website, the mission of the Lenawee United Way is, “to mobilize community resources to create a measurably better life for the people of Lenawee County.”Holleigh Baker, who co-chairs the campaign with Julie Miller, said that this year’s kick-off began with a breakfast on September 14.
To the Editor,I just read J. Cole’s letter rebuking the teenager who carelessly crossed in front of the Cole vehicle. While I can sympathize with the driver’s frustration, I think we need to remind ourselves that school is back in session and that the burden for careful and caring driving is the responsibility of the owner of a 2000-pound vehicle. We all want our children to be more aware, more cautious, and more responsible — but they are still children.
To the Editor,I’d like to thank Representative Nancy Jenkins for clarifying some of the more confusing ballot proposals voters will decide on this November. I’d like to thank her, but I will not. I am familiar with the subtle and not so subtle power of words and rhetoric. The brochure produced and distributed by Rep. Jenkins seems on the surface to be an unbiased explanation of the ballot proposals. But it is not. Not by a long shot. When Rep. Jenkins greets her readers with “Dear Friends,” she attempts to ingratiate herself with the reader.
