Virginia L. McDonnell, age 86, of Tecumseh, passed away May 4, 2014.Mrs. McDonnell was born May 30, 1927 in Harbor View, Ohio the daughter of William Henry and Myrtle (South) Rhodes. On June 10, 1950 she Married Wayne J. McDonnell in Napoleon, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on February 20, 1990.Virginia resided in the Tecumseh area since 1953 and retired from Peerless Gear in Clinton.

Wayne E. Murphy, age 81 of Tecumseh, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014. He was born November 18, 1932 in Adrian, Mich., the son of James A. and Grace (Hoagland) Murphy. He married Dolores Rampy in 1953 in Albion, Mich. Sadly, she preceded him in death in 1978. Wayne then married Mary Ann Schwab in 1984 and she survives.Wayne was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country from 1953–1955 stationed in Germany. He worked for Tecumseh Products Company as a Draftsman and CAD designer for 30 years, retiring in 1998. Wayne attended church at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.

David John Colson, age 45 of Tecumseh, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 6, 2014 with his loving family by his side. He was born April 2, 1969 in Tecumseh, Mich., the son of James Colson and Dolores (Peterson) Colson.David was a 1995 graduate of the Milton C. Porter Center and also worked for Goodwill in Adrian for five years. David loved people and never met a stranger. He participated in Special Olympics and won many medals for swimming. He also enjoyed golfing, biking and shooting pool. David had a great sense of humor and loved music.

Britton Deerfield hosted its annual track Invitational on Friday, May 2, and had four boys record first place finishes.

A victory in the 1,600-meter relay gave Clinton’s boys an overall win against visiting Summerfield on Thursday, May 1, with the Redskins’ team of Ryan Piatt, Ken DeShano, Blake Rogers and Mathew Sexton placing first to stay a step ahead of the Bulldogs.

It was a long journey for Jon Treloar to bring J. Trees Cellars Tasting Room into the historic Hayden-Ford Mill in Tecumseh, but the doors finally opened on April 26. The location for the tasting room was originally in Blissfield, but the business was ready to grow.“The idea is now we have a lot more space,” Treloar said. “We have plenty of room for people. Our site is fantastic.”Treloar felt the Hayden-Ford Mill was the perfect place for the business to expand and continue to grow, and is happy to finally be in the building.

The Honorable Charles Wm. Jameson, age 74 of Adrian, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at University of Michigan Hospital in the loving arms of his family after a long battle with Wegener’s disease.He was born December 10, 1939, in Jackson, Mich., to the late Judge Robert and Marie (Terry) Jameson Baker.
