Savoy Energy has backed out of a plan to drill an injection well near a historic gravesite that drew opposition during a Raisin Township meeting in March. The company planned to install the well on East Valley Road near Underground Railroad pioneer Elizabeth Chandler’s gravesite.

Picking up a 34-26 non-conference varsity football victory at Airport High School on Friday, Oct. 21, improved Tecumseh’s overall record to 4-5 but it was a bittersweet ending for the Indians as they will not be advancing into the playoffs.

TECUMSEH — Tecumseh’s varsity girls cross country team finished fourth in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) championship meet at Chelsea on Thursday, Oct. 20, but tied for third place for final conference standings.

D. Joyce (Scotty) Holdridge, aged 87, of Jackson, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 23, 2016. She died at home under the care of her loving family and Great Lakes Hospice (Jackson and Grand Rapids).

Vivian Belle (Hooper) Bunch was born March 26, 1928 in New Tazewell, Tenn., and died October 21, 2016 at home in Tecumseh, Mich. She married Roy Cecil Bunch on December 24, 1946 in Dalton, Ga. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1998.
