‘Many reasons’ to support the upcoming library millage

To the Editor,I am thinking of the people of Tecumseh as they decide how to vote on the library millage issues on May 7.Our family had just moved to Tecumseh in 2002 when the first millage try went down in defeat. Almost before I knew it, the library was open only ten hours a week. It was appalling.

Investment in education worth the cost of supporting library millage

Hometown library is one of its ‘cultural hubs’

To the Editor,It is my great pleasure to live in a community with a vibrant library to enrich its citizenry. From the remarkable personal commitment of the TDL’s Board of Trustees to the generous work of the Friends of the Library, we are fortunate to have individuals in Tecumseh that care so deeply about our access to books (and all kinds of other formats of information) for both personal and professional growth.

Libraries ‘enhance the well-being of everyone’

To the Editor,My husband and I voted for our first Tecumseh District Library millage at an inn in California’s Napa Valley. Knowing we would be away for the election, we had our absentee ballots sent to the inn, and when we checked in, the innkeeper gave us our mail and apologized for accidentally opening the envelope. I asked him, jokingly, did you vote yes, and then explained how important this issue was to us. He was impressed that we would go to so much trouble.Nearly ten years later, the Tecumseh District Library is an even more important part of our lives.

Farmer’s markets help downtown businesses when located there

To the Editor,We totally agree with Lois Lane’s comments about the Farmer’s Market present location. We consumers were never asked about location, we’ve never had an issue with parking downtown, and vendors are now isolated. In the past we could walk or bike to the market. It advertised the unique local flavor of our town to visitors. Sadly, since the market moved, we have not visited the event. When we drove by the uninviting location we saw very few vendors or customers. When it was downtown, we supported the vendors, shopped in our stores and had lunch downtown.

Farmer’s markets are meant to benefit economy, consumers

To the Editor,My wife was polite, but here is my opinion. A downtown farmer’s market that is meant to benefit our local economy and consumers should be located downtown. Are we planning to move Appleumpkin, sidewalk sales, and the parades to Rogers Hwy or some other satellite location? Cynical, sarcastic? Ewe bet.How about homecoming parade on Blissfield Highway? Don’t forget to give the pilots new coordinates for their fantastic flyby Memorial weekends near Tipton Hwy. or Loch Erin. Traffic reroute will be interesting. Just sayin’ what most of us are thinking.
