Arthur L. Sawyer
Arthur L. Sawyer, age 97 of Tecumseh, died January 16, 2014 at Provincial House, Adrian. He was born May 14, 1916 in Lowell, Mass., the son of Josephat and Parmelia (Cote) Sawyer. On June 18, 1942, he married Helen Frech in Detroit, Mich. She survives.Arthur was a WWII Veteran, serving in the United States Army. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1979. In 1984, Arthur and his wife Helen relocated to Tecumseh from Detroit. In addition to his wife Helen, Arthur is survived by four children, Denise Sawyer-Moran of Chelsea, John Sawyer of Brighton, Alan Sawyer of Pembroke, Maine, and Diane Jara of Canton; five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elena Joy Sawyer; and brother, Victor.Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh.Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Visitation will also take place on Monday from 12 p.m. until time of funeral service.Condolences may be offered online at www.pursefuneralhome.com.
