Ball fields showcase what volunteers, donors can accomplish

To the Editor,The article “New ball fields going up at Tecumseh High School” was a good illustration of many things that are important to a small community such as ours. The project to build the fields has been underway for almost two years, and showcases what numerous volunteers, including coaches, students and players, along with generous donations of time, talent and supplies from many local businesses can accomplish. The first baseball game at the field on May 1 was quite an achievement, given the limited funds the project has raised to date, and was a salute to all those who have put a great deal of sweat equity into the effort to get it this far. However, additional funds are still needed to complete the project so that both the baseball and the softball fields are ready for practice and games. Donations are still being accepted. Checks can be made out to the Tecumseh Indians Fan Club-Field Project, and sent to Tecumseh High School, 760 Brown Street, Tecumseh, MI 49286. Lisa HartA baseball/softball fan
