Bette Macauley

Bette Macauley, age 88, passed away peacefully at Cambrian Assisted Living in Tecumseh, Mich., on August 14, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Richard Macauley. Bette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to many.

She is survived and will be missed dearly by her children, Sue (Jim) Atwell, Juli (Randy) Humphreys, DeeDee Bellini, and Peter (Sue) Macauley; six grandchildren, Alyson (Brian), Danny, Kenny, Stephen, Nicholas, Joelle; a great granddaughter, Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Richard, she is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Teresa Cox.

Raised in Rome, N.Y., Bette moved to Detroit in 1952 and was married to the love of her life, Richard Macauley, in 1954. Bette was a longtime resident of both Dexter and Milan, Mich. She retired from St. Joseph Hospital in 1994 where she enjoyed working with patients and made lifelong friendships with co-workers.

Bette was an avid reader, enjoyed working her puzzles, and playing card games with family and friends. As a devoted grandmother, Bette cherished time spent with her adored grandchildren. She always would make time available to help with family. Her sense of humor and quick smile were always a welcome sight and will be missed.

Friends may visit on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11 a.m. at Hosmer-Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 3410 Broad Street, Dexter, MI 48130. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Dexter.
