Blanche Anna Schafer

Blanche Anna Schafer went peacefully to be with her Lord on April 28, 2016, surrounded by family. God blessed her with 94 good years of serving Him, as well as her family. Blanche was born on February 5, 1922 in Wyandotte, Mich., the daughter of Joseph and Frieda (Sell) Schafer.

She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wyandotte. In 1948, she moved to Tecumseh, where she was employed at Tecumseh Products for 32 years. She was a longtime resident of Tecumseh, but had recently moved to Brecon Village in Saline, where she passed away. Blanche was very active in her church, in Bible Studies, teaching Sunday School and Young At Heart. Blanche also enjoyed bowling, baking and decorating cakes and a good game of cards.

Blanche is survived by five brothers and three sisters: Myrtle Schafer of Saline, Ralph Schafer of Tecumseh, Howard (Joan) of West Unity, Ohio, Melvin (Barbara) Schafer of Tecumseh, Joyce Schultz of Tecumseh, Ilene (Ed) Schroeder of Fenton, Paul (Sally) Schafer of Tecumseh and Joel (Joyce) Schafer of Tecumseh. Many nieces and nephews were a big part of her life, as well as great-nephews and nieces.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, Roy David Schafer, brother-in-law Jerry Schultz, and sisters-in-law Helen Schafer and Madelyn Schafer.

Funeral Services took place on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Christ Our King Lutheran Church in Saline with Rev. Tom Schroeder officiating.

Interment took place at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made in Blanche’s name to the Church. Envelopes will be available at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline where friends began calling on Sunday, May 1, 2016 between the hours of 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again at the Church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

The family would like to thank the Shared Nurses and staff at Brecon Village and Hospice for their care of Blanche during her final months.
