TECUMSEH — During the public comment portion of the Tecumseh School Board meeting Monday, student Brendan Stolarek asked the board to consider allowing him to play volleyball on the girls team. He cited a section of Title IX, and gave examples that girls are allowed on wrestling and football teams.
Stolarek said he loves playing volleyball, but that volleyball is not offered as a boys team sport.
Superintendent Kelly Coffin took his name and telephone number and told him that Jon Zajac, athletic director, would be in contact.
Other board members and administrators congratulated Stolarek for having the courage to take a stand.
