Britton Deerfield girls first, boys second at Madison Invitational

Britton Deerfield’s varsity cross-country teams competed in Madison’s Invitational on Monday and the girls placed first while the boys were second behind Madison.“I am very pleased with tonight’s results,” said BD coach Jay Yockey. “My girls have been on the hunt for a win after falling short for a few weeks. They know when to turn up the gears when the pressure is on and have been responding well. “The boys ran exceptionally well even though our second man on the team is at 6th grade camp as a counselor.”BD’s girls were led by Oda Laegran (2nd, 21:32.06), Marisa Kimerer (3rd, 21:54.02), Carrie Wielfaert (6th, 23:03.54) Jessie Langmeyer (7th, 23:07.23) and Maggie Loesch (10th, 24:10.23).Leading the Patriots’ boys were Gene Dudek (6th, 18:07.19), Josh Papworth (13th, 20:11.48), Lucas Wielfaert (14th, 20:21.62), Ron Gerten (17th 20:32.73), and Dakota Heiden (21st, 21:24.92).Clinton placed fourth in the boys race. Leading Clinton were Brady Fowler (5th, 17:59.17), Zachary Matthews (15th, 20:22.90), Daniel Tomalak (22nd, 21:25.36), Nate VanAtta (27th, 22:57.65) and Noel Scott (32nd, 23:44.06).Leading Clinton’s girls were Coral Muessig (21st, 26:12.00), Ashleigh Donahey (23rd, 26:35.23), Shianne Muessig (24th, 26:35.45), Sarah Allen (27th, 27:59.17) and Faith Newman (28th, 28:10.84).
