Floats, bands and entertainers will walk down Chicago Boulevard for Tecumseh’s annual Christmas parade, scheduled this year on Friday, Dec. 4 starting at 7 p.m.

Over 60 parade entries, including floats, horse-drawn carriages and walkers, kept crowds entertained during 2014’s parade. Participant en-tries are expected to be equal to last year’s parade. Marching bands from Tecumseh High School and Britton Deerfield High School, as well as the Fife and Drum Corp, are returning for this year’s event.

The parade will once again feature Santa Claus as the guest of honor. Vicki Philo, Executive Director for the Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce, said children in particular will have a great time at the parade. “Mayor Jack Baker will be presenting the key to the city to Santa,” Philo said. “Santa will be riding in on a sleigh, which the city will provide.”

The 2015 parade theme is “Inside Santa’s Workshop,” submitted by Jocelyn Domschot, office assistant at the Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce. Each year the Chamber has a contest open to Tecumseh residents to decide the parade’s theme. Chamber ambassadors go over the entries and choose which entry is the winning theme for that year’s parade. Whomever’s entry is chosen is also bestowed the honor of being Grand Marshal for the parade.

After the parade, kids will have the opportunity to visit Santa. Santa will be present from December 4 to December 24 at Adams Park next to City Hall to listen to the wishes of young children. Hours to visit Santa vary by date. A schedule can be obtained by visiting www.downtowntecumseh.com or by calling the Chamber at 423.3740.

A Candlelight Home Tour will take place on Friday, Dec. 4, and on Saturday, Dec. 5 at homes around Tecumseh. The tours on both nights begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased in advance at The Daily Grind, the Chamber of Commerce, and Schmidt & Sons Pharmacy.

The locations of homes featured this year include 215 W. Pottawatamie St., 912 Red Oak Ct. and The Union Block Suites at 112 W. Chicago Blvd.
