Charity prepares for annual program
Associated Charities of Lenawee County is preparing for its annual “Back to School” program to provide clothing, shoes, backpacks and school supplies to Lenawee children. The 2013 distribution will run August 19-22.Registration begins July 2 and families must be pre-registered before Aug. 9. Documentation of income eligibility, proof of residency and birth certificates for all children is required.School clothing will be available at no cost to Lenawee County families with children enrolled in the four-year Head Start program through high school and that are registered at Associated Charities. Children are not prohibited from accompanying their parents; however shopping will be less congested if children are not present. No strollers will be allowed.The clothing supply is restocked each shift so that everyone has an equal opportunity to obtain suitable clothing. Donations of backpacks, school supplies, new socks and new underwear are needed to help with the program. Monetary donations are also accepted.
