Charles “Chuck” A. Iott

Charles “Chuck” A. Iott, age 66. of Deerfield passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 25, 2018 in Fort Myers, Fla. in the presence of his family.  He was born on February 10, 1952 in Adrian, Mich. to Francis C. and Marguerite M. (Briggs) Iott.  On May 26, 1984 he married Linda J. Baaske in Tecumseh, Mich. Chuck was a very successful insurance agent for Iott Insurance for 33 years and former CEO of Iott Insurance Agency. He took many classes and seminars dealing with insurance and had a CIC and an LIC license. He enjoyed working with his clients and employees. Chuck was on the Deerfield Village Council and later became mayor of Deerfield for 22 years. He also served on the Deerfield Fire Department for a number of years. Chuck was very involved with the Deerfield American Legion as a Sons of American Legion member and worked on many numerous projects and events with the legion. He was a member of Light of Christ Catholic Parish, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and also of the Tuesday night Deerfield Men’s Golf League.

Chuck lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed being around people, whether it was boating, camping, golfing, or just entertaining. Chuck enjoyed attending U of M football games with his wife and friends. He absolutely loved being with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed sitting in his garage/mancave, visiting with friends and especially his son, Kevin.  Chuck was a very loving and compassionate man. He gave all that he could of his time and finances helping other people. He was a great organizer of many gatherings. Chuck will be greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.

Surviving is his wife, Linda Iott of Deerfield, Mich.; son, Kevin (Madeline) Iott of Petersburg, Mich.; a grandson, Walker Adam Iott; his father, Francis (Jo) Iott of Adrian; brothers, Dan (Jenny) Iott of Ann Arbor, Mich., Mike Iott of New York City, N.Y. and Brian (Kim) Iott of Saline, Mich.; sister, Ann (Lyndon) Uphaus of Manchester, Mich.; brothers-in-law, Dale Waltz and Bruce (Denise) Baaske; sisters-in-law, Sue (Iott) Yotter and Susan (John) Gibson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Peg Iott; sister, Pat Waltz; brothers, Jack and Tim Iott; mother and father-in-law, Art and Marilyn Baaske and two nephews, Adam Nicola-Iott and Kevin Baaske. 

The Memorial Liturgy for Chuck will be offered at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Light of Christ Parish (St. Alphonsus), Deerfield with Fr. Jeff Poll presiding. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow at the Deerfield American Legion, Deerfield. Visitation will take place on Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
