Charles R. Goodacre
Charles R. Goodacre, 85, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the Elkhart Hospice House. He was born June 18, 1932 in Tecumseh, Mich., to Clark and Gladys (Butts) Goodacre.
On June 28, 1954, he married Klothilde E. Schwertl. She survives along with a daughter, Christa (Scott) Shippy of Elkhart and two grandchildren, Claire and Connor Shippy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ronald Goodacre and two sisters, Jeanette Miller and Ruth Cole.
Charles was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1954. He was a lifelong member of Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church in Tecumseh, Mich., where he served as a senior warden and treasurer. Charles enjoyed fixing and building things. He retired in 1988 as a sales representative from Sentry Insurance Company.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of life service for Charles will be held at a later date. His care is entrusted to Elkhart Cremation Services.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Elkhart Hospice House.
