At the February 1 Tecumseh City Council meeting, a total of $18,349 was received for the Tecumseh Center for the Arts (TCA) through various gifts from three organizations. The Elizabeth Ruthruff Wilson Foundation honored a grant request from the TCA to help pay for the purchase of a communications system for the theatre, along with four wireless microphone sets, resulting in a grant of $10,360. The Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs also contributed $4,989 towards the communication system, which will be completely paid for by both organizations. The current equipment was purchased in 1991 and has not been replaced since.

Old National Bank presented a $3,000 check to the TCA in an effort to preserve arts in the community. Old National Bank’s Lenawee Marketing President Joe Williams presented the check to Shelley Lim, Director of Cultural and Leisure Services, and Mayor Jack Baker. The donation offsets some of the operating costs of the TCA, which would fall upon the City’s General Fund to pay for if contributions were not given to the organization. Williams said Old National Bank was contributing an additional $1,000 to Tecumseh’s Pure Michigan Campaign.

“We just want to thank you for all that you’re doing for the great city of Tecumseh, and we appreciate your leadership,” Williams said.

Lim voiced appreciation for the gift given by Old National Bank to the TCA. “You’re involved in so many things that happen here, and we couldn’t do it without you,” Lim said.

Council member Gary Naugle also thanked Old National Bank for their contribution. “They help us quite a bit, and need recognition for the things they do for us,” Naugle said.
