Clara “Claire” Johnson

Clara “Claire” Johnson passed away peacefully on January 18, 2016 in Tecumseh, Mich., at the age of 100. She was born in Oconto, Wis. on March 5, 1915 to Edward and Emma Mayer Ryan. On May 12, 1934 she married Charles Johnson in Milwaukee, Wis. Claire was the proud mother of three daughters and a son.

Until her retirement in 1972, Claire cherished her job as a nurse’s assistant in the neo-natal unit at Columbus Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis. She was active in her church and many service groups over the years. Claire enjoyed many years of playing golf with her husband and friends.

In retirement, Claire resided in Wisconsin, Florida and Michigan and traveled to Spain, Ireland and other locations. She was full of life, humor and insight, which all lucky enough to know her will cherish.

Surviving Claire are two daughters, Patricia Rancatti of Durango, Colo., Charlotte Strack of Tecumseh, Mich.; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Chuck; daughter, Carol Resch; son, Charles “Skip” Johnson; five brothers, Henry Ryan, William Ryan, Lloyd Ryan, Roland Ryan, Wilbur Ryan; a sister, Orvella Schain; and a great-grandson, Santo Caputa.

At Claire’s request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, Mich.
