Clinton has two wrestlers advancing
Two of Clinton’s varsity wrestlers qualified for the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Division 4 individual state finals at the Palace of Auburn Hills March 5-7.Clinton sent eight to the regional meet at Manchester on Saturday, Feb. 21, and had Huntter Trubiano place third to advance at 145 pounds and Austin Popp place fourth to qualify at 215 pounds.The other Redskins competing were Nick LaCoss (130), Zech Johnston (135), Nicholas Rolland (152), David Chantelois (160), Kenny Deshano (171), and Trent Sexton (189).Clinton received a Team Academic All-State Award for the second consecutive season. The award is given to teams that have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher. “This is an awesome accomplishment and we are very proud of this award,” said Clinton coach Jeff Rolland. “Along with the strides the program has made competitively on the mats, we continue to try to build the program and futures of these young men in all areas. The hard work they have put in on the mats and in the classroom is being rewarded and is being recognized statewide.”
