Clinton track teams beat Summerfield

A victory in the 1,600-meter relay gave Clinton’s boys an overall win against visiting Summerfield on Thursday, May 1, with the Redskins’ team of Ryan Piatt, Ken DeShano, Blake Rogers and Mathew Sexton placing first to stay a step ahead of the Bulldogs. Clinton’s boys outscored Summerfield 73-65 for the Tri-County Conference win.The Redskins girls recorded a 75-58 victory and improved to 2-2 overall.Also placing first for Clinton’s boys were Mathew Sexton (100, 200): Ryan Piatt (high jump, 400-meter, 800-meter), Brady Fowler (1600-meter, 3200-meter), Tom Vinton (long jump), Nate Kaszuba (discus) and Hunter Trubiano (330-meter hurdles).Leading Clinton’s girls was Kacy Campbell with a win in the long jump, a second place in the 200-meter and was an integral part of the winning 400- and 3,200-meter relay teams. Other members of the 3,200-meter relay team were Coral Muessig, Gina Pike and Haley Skiff. Clinton’s 400-meter relay team placed first with the team of Jordan Draper, Arielle Hitch and Maggie Korte. Emily Couture placed first in the shot put and was second in the discus. Clinton’s Faith Newman was first in the 100-meter: Pike was first in the 1600- and 3200-meter runs; and freshman Arielle Hitch was first in the 300-meter low hurdles and second in the high hurdles.The Redskins’ girls had Couture lead the way at Britton Deerfield’s Invitational on Friday, May 2, with a first in the shot put (31’-7.75”) and second place in the discus (91’-10.5”). Clinton’s distance medley relay team of Hailey Skiff, Pike, Hitch and Madison Bachman the team tied for second place.
