Community polarized over airport stopping skydiving

To the Editor,It’s unfortunate the current court case concerning Meyers Airport and the impact of its change in ownership, appears to be polarizing the community for some reason, which in itself is evidence of the seriousness of some issues involved. The sport of skydiving has long been a part of this community and the operation of any associated business providing that opportunity had proven to be a “good neighbor” in the past. Unfortunately, the recent growth (and change in ownership) in the business operation known as “Skydive Tecumseh” over the last few years and the subsequent increase in aircraft size and flight frequency while becoming the “largest drop-zone in the state” has obviously had a negative impact on those residents living in the immediate area and raised serious concerns for their health, safety, property values and quality of life that can only be fully appreciated by those impacted residents living in close proximity. How these serious concerns are addressed may or may not be part of the current court case (I really don’t know) but if not, they will ultimately need to be addressed by those responsible parties, municipal authorities, and regulating agencies responsible for insuring the safety and well being of the impacted residents as well as the community at large.Christopher DesmetHerrick Park residentTecumseh
