Couple salutes veterans recently honored in Britton parade

To the Editor,World War II veterans from Britton and Deerfield were the grand marshals of the Britton Deerfield homecoming parade on October 3. Parade watchers could identify each vet with a name plaque, a red or blue cap reading WWII Veteran, as they sat on their banner clad trailer pulled by a military jeep. Raymond Laberdee attended Deerfield High School and was awarded his high school diploma nearly 73 years later, after leaving school for the war.All of this special program was possible because of a lot of planning, and numerous people. We especially want to commend Jim Wood, 1955 graduate of Britton Macon High School, a retired Army veteran, for his tireless effort and contribution to honor these men in this special way.We are grateful for all veterans, and the sacrifices they made for our most precious freedom. We salute them, and all those men and women currently serving in our military forces.Don and Charlene DickersonBritton Macon High Graduates Class of 1957 and 1960
