David G. Macy

David G. Macy, age 63, of Onsted passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, with his loving family at his side and under the gentle care of Hospice of Lenawee. David was born October 15, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of John and Dorothy (Anderson) Macy.David was a 1972 graduate of Michigan State University and was an avid Spartan fan. He worked in marketing and advertising for many years before becoming a Realtor. He was a member of the Lenawee Country Club, the Brooklyn Moose Lodge, Michigan Association of Realtors, and held Master Gardener Certification from Hidden Lake Gardens-MSU. David loved working diligently on the 10 acres of land he shared with his wife, Shirley. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. David loved his family, his friends and his pets, and is said to have had a “heart of gold.”In addition to Shirley, whom he married on August 28, 1982, David is survived by his son Scott Douglas (Kelly) Motson of Kalamazoo; his daughter Lisa Margaret Macy of Haslett; his brother Chuck (Sandy) Macy of Iron Mountain; and his grandchildren Jacob, Kyle, Reagan, and one due in October. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation for David will be Saturday, Sept. 14, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. The funeral service will follow visitation at 2 p.m. with Pastor Tom Hawkins of NewSong Community Church officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Interment will take place at a later date.
