Dean Wann

Dean Wann, age 85 of Tecumseh, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014. Dean was born November 9, 1928, in Chalmers Ind., the son of Daniel and Marie Wann. Dean graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and then went to serve in the Army. He owned and operated The Tog Shop in Tecumseh for 17 years while working as a Chemical Engineer. He served on the Raisin Township Planning Commission and volunteered with the United Way and Department of Aging, driving patients to doctor appointments. Dean came from a large farming family. He was an intelligent but modest man whose frugal ways were known to many. All through his life he adored his family and would talk about them excessively to anyone who would listen. He had a curious side that shone through in his extensive travels and interests. It was during his travel in Europe that he met his wife, Britt Bostrom, who he married in Midland on October 2, 1965. Quick to smile, kind hearted, always with a positive attitude.Dean is survived by his daughters, Ann (Robert Stross) Wann of Tecumseh, and Karen (Steve) Westcott of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, James Stross, Elizabeth Westcott and Dane Westcott; brother, Robert (Shari) Wann of Indianapolis, Ind. He was preceded in death by his wife, Britt, his parents, his sisters; Bernice, Beulah, Sue, Lucille, Opal and Joanne and his brothers; Verlin, Earl and Ivan.A small memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Tecumseh, outside in the Columbarium at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, with Rev. Cathi King officiating. A celebration of his life and his birthday (November 9th) will be held afterwards at his daughter’s home, 713 Red Mill Drive.
