DeArle Jay Brugger
DeArle Jay Brugger, 96, of Marysville, formerly of Lenawee County, Mich., was called home Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at The Inn at Halcyon Village surrounded by his loving family. He retired from Clinton Community Schools in 1979 where he served as maintenance supervisor. Prior to that, he was a farmer and operated a dairy farm near Tipton, Mich.In his retirement, he enjoyed several other “hands on” occupations. He and his first wife, Helen, were active members of Tecumseh Friends Church in Tecumseh, Mich., where they were involved with children’s ministries through Lay Witness Missions. Following Helen’s death, he married Lucille Green. They lived in Bradenton, Fla., for ten years and later moved to Marysville. During their years together, they impacted many lives through church and other organizations. They enjoyed their golden years together with family and friends, enriching lives as they went. He was born May 4, 1917, in Ottawa Lake, Mich., to the late Ezra Daniel and Minnie Louise Ferow Brugger. On June 23, 1939, he married Helen Lucille King. She preceded him in death on January 21, 1981. He was also predeceased by two daughters, Joyce Willett and Madeline Thompson; three sons-in-law, Kenneth Emery, Rev. Douglas Thompson and John Willett; two sisters, Betty Harper and Valdine Kidd; and a grandson, John Lee Logan.He is survived by his wife, Lucille Weiser Green Brugger, whom he married November 29, 1981, in Marysville; four children, Lois (Arnie) Sayler of Tecumseh, Ken (Patti) Brugger of Hudson, Mich., Carolyn (Rob) Mills of Deerfield, Mich., and Dennis (Janet) Brugger of Adrian, Mich.; three step-children, Carolyn (Jim) Sommers of Greene, Ohio, Gene (Sheila) Green of Akron and Harold (Bonnie) Green of Marysville; his 21 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; two brothers, LeRoy (Marge) Brugger of Tecumseh, Mich., and Leon Brugger of Adrian, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Velda Allen of Marysville; a brother-in-law, Lowell (Donna) Weiser of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.Visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Anderson Funeral Home in Adrian, Mich., where Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Larry Betz officiating. Interment will take place at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park in Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice, 779 London Avenue, Marysville, Ohio 43040.
