Donald G. Ketteman
Donald G. Ketteman, age 83 of Tecumseh, died peacefully at Kingston Residence of Marion in Marion, Ohio, with his family by his side on January 4, 2013. He was born on May 7, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of John G. and Althea G. (Vogt) Ketteman. On October 20, 1950 he was united in marriage to Joan A. Thompson and sadly, she preceded him in death on May 10, 2011.
Don retired as Secretary of Product Integrity at Tecumseh Products where he worked for 43 years until retiring on December 31, 1995. He had attended the University of Michigan and the University of Toledo. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh, the Barton-Smith Lodge 613 F&AM, past advisor for Junior Achievement in Marion and was an Eagle Scout with three Palms. He enjoyed traveling, reading and woodworking and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Richard (Tami) Ketteman of Marion, Ohio; his daughter, Shari (Cliff) Dodd of Telluride, Colo.; one brother, Richard (Marie) Ketteman of Sylvania, Ohio; five grandchildren, John, Sara, Katie, Donald and Lauren and five great grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will take place on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes from 10 a.m. until the time of his memorial service at 12 noon with Reverend Richard Mortimer of Covenant Presbyterian Church officiating. Inurnment of both his and Joan’s cremated remains will be in Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Ohio on March 21 at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Parkinson’s Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
