Donations to support Fussman family

A GoFundMe campaign set up to support the family of Jordan Fussman, who died Wednesday, April 8, in a car accident, had surpassed its $6,000 goal Friday morning by over $1,000. As of Friday, $7,226 has been raised with donations ranging from $5 to $500. Sixteen-year-old Fussman, a Tecumseh High School (THS) student and Tecumseh resident, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Billmeyer Road near Shull Road. Noah Nimer, 17, also a THS student and Tecumseh resident, was a passenger in the vehicle and survived. Nimer was transported to Toledo ProMedica hospital with what were then believed to be non-life threatening injuries, according to a press release from the Raisin Township Police Department, Wednesday, April 8.Raisin Township Police Chief Kevin Grayer said Thursday he was informed Nimer received stitches to the face, had no broken bones, but sustained hairline-fractures to his spine. A press release sent out Friday from the Raisin Township Police Department confirmed Nimer was released from the hospital Thursday afternoon, April 9, with a back brace, and is home recovering. “My thoughts and prayers go out to the Fussman family,” Grayer said in the release.Thursday afternoon Tecumseh Public Schools provided students, family members and community members with access to counselors for grief counseling at the high school. Additional counseling will be available next week as needed. TPS was on spring break the week of April 5. “Tecumseh Public Schools would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Jordan Fussman,” said TPS in a statement released Thursday, April 9.Students needing support can visit the high school guidance office or call 423.3803. The Raisin Township Police Department, along with the Raisin Township Fire Department, responded to the personal injury accident at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.Grayer arrived at the scene and confirmed two people were pinned inside the vehicle, and that Nimer was responsive and talking with police and medical staff as they arrived. The accident is still under investigation by the Raisin Township Police Department and the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Accident Investigation team. It is believe speed was a factor in the accident, according to a press release from the department Thursday.
