Donna Jean Sanborn

Donna Jean Sanborn, age 75, of Clinton, Mich., passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, Mich., after a courageous battle with cancer for many years. She was born on February 18, 1942, a daughter of the late George and Mildred (Willeman) Drewes. On October 16, 1960 she married Larry E. Sanborn at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wauseon, Ohio and they shared 57 wonderful years together. Donna worked as a bank manager for First Federal Bank in Clinton for many years and later ran Grandmas Day Care in her home for 10 years. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was involved in the Care Group and Ladies Aid and played the hand chimes. Donna was involved for many years with the Clinton Fall Festival and was the chairman on three separate occasions. She enjoyed cooking and was a caterer for several years and loved going with Ollie’s bus group and traveling on many cruises.

Along with her husband, Donna is survived by her children, Kathy (Doug) Brooks of Manchester, Mich., Karen Mountain of Knoxville, Tenn., Larry Todd (Tia) Sanborn and Lance Sanborn both of Clinton, Mich.; grandchildren, Melissa (Kevin) Duvall of Manchester, Mich., Jason (Amanda) Brooks of Manchester, Mich., Larry William (Chelsea) Sanborn of Clinton, Mich., Joshua (Jordan) Sanborn of Detroit, Mich., Leigha (Eric Davis) Sanborn of Clinton, Mich., Faith Mountain and Daniel Mountain both of Knoxville, Tenn., Mathew Sanborn and Alyssa Sanborn both of Adrian, Mich.; great-grandchildren, Bella and Anna Duvall and Logan and Parker Brooks all of Manchester, Mich., and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Drewes.

Funeral services for Donna were held on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tecumseh with Pastor Philip Krieger officiating. Visitation was held on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel of Handler Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery.
