Earl David Mason

Earl David Mason, age 89, of Tecumseh, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Heartland Rehabilitation in Canton. He was born September 2, 1923 in Kalamazoo Mich., to Willard and Greta Mason. He served in the military during 1942-45 as a staff sergeant in the Army. In December of 1949 he married Ellen Hendrickson. After becoming a widower in January of 1984, he married Doris Shirk in April of 1986. He was employed by United Saving Bank in 1966 and retired Senior Vice President in 1988. Earl was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Tecumseh. He was a member of Tecumseh Kiwanis club and served as secretary for several years. Earl was an avid wood worker and devoted fan of MLB.Earl is survived by his daughter Elaine Hudson of Aguanga Calif., and son Erik Mason of Livonia Mich., stepsons Jeff Shirk of Dansville Mich., and Ron Shirk of Flint Mich., stepdaughters Diane Hahnert of Spokane Wash., and Rebecca Vredenberg of Long Beach Calif., 10 grandchildren, Erick, Linze, Lauryn, Benjamin, Emily, Joseph, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Jennifer and Katie, four great grandchildren, Benjamin, Evan, Timothy and Tiffany. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bob of Carrollton Tex.A celebration of Earl’s life will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church December 8, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Joyce Freund officiating.
