Edith Mae Bowen

Edith Mae Bowen, age 82, of Tecumseh, died Friday, Nov. 01, 2013 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. She was born June 16, 1931 in Knott County, Ky., to Elzie and Mattie (Combs) Miller. On May 18, 1950 in Redfox, Ky., she married Claude Bowen and he survives. Edith was a member of the Clinton Baptist Church and active in the Ladies Aid Group, Vacation Bible School and taught Sunday school. She loved going fishing with Claude in Florida, where they wintered for the past 33 years in Kissimmee. Edith enjoyed socializing with friends, playing cards and bingo. She also enjoyed dogs and had several throughout her life. She was known by her family as a wonderful cook.In addition to her husband, Claude, Edith is survived by one son, Joseph (Sophie) Bowen of Northville; two daughters, Linda Bowen of Novi and Diana (James) Falletich of Grosse Point Shores; one brother, Oliver “Vaughn” (Marjorie) Miller of Livonia; four grandchildren, Lisa, Eric, Keli and Caitlin. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters Janaline and Lillian.Funeral services for Edith were at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at the Clinton Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Riddle and Pastor Jon Turner officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Tecumseh and on Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Clinton Baptist Church.
