Edward Paul Jacobs, Jr
Edward Paul Jacobs, Jr., age 62, of Pittsford was unexpectedly called home to be with God, Friday, May 17, 2013.
He was born March 31, 1951, in Saline, Mich., to Edward and Joyce (Loyd) Jacobs. He grew up in the Clinton area and lived in Tecumseh and Pittsford in later years. He attended Clinton schools where he participated in golf, cross country, basketball and baseball. He also was a member of the Varsity Club and was Vice President of his senior class. After high school, Ed attended Ferris State University and then went to work at Ford Motor Company in Saline, Mich., in 1970, retiring from Ford in 2002. He was also a proud member of the American Legion.
Ed had a heart of gold and was a friend to all. He was a licensed contractor in the State of Michigan and worked on building projects large and small, using his skills to wire, plumb, install flooring or construct an entire building. He also had mechanical skills and abilities. He repaired cars, trucks, tractors, and just about anything that needed fixing and was never satisfied until the job was done “just right.”
Ed was an avid sportsman. He fished summer and winter, hunted deer, pheasant, rabbit and squirrel and especially enjoyed predator calling for coyotes. He loved trapping and painstakingly dried and stretched many pelts each season. Another pasttime Ed enjoyed was gardening. Each year his garden produced radishes, tomatoes, peppers, and his favorite, brussel sprouts.
Ed will be dearly missed by his children Michael (Emily) Jacobs, of South Haven, Mich. son of Patricia Young; Jeremy Jacobs of Tecumseh, Mich. son of Deborah Shadley; one grandson, Edward Chase Jacobs; sisters Linda (Glenn) Kinney of Hudson, Mich. and Tina (Tony) Hamric of Stoutsville, Ohio, many nieces, nephews and friends and his faithful companion Gibby. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter Jessica Marie.
