Edwin R. Lewis

Edwin R. Lewis, age 77, of Tecumseh, passed away November 16, 2015.

He was born December 18, 1937, in Tecumseh, Mich., the son of Leonard and Arnetta (Wright) Lewis.

On May 4, 1958, he married Beverly Champanois and she preceded him in death on May 3, 1998.

On March 2, 2000, he married Jane Handley and she survives.

Ed was a graduate of Tecumseh High School, Class of 1956. He was retired from Hoyt E. Whelan Company with 40 years of service. Ed was a member of Tipton Community Church and the NRA.

He loved to golf, fish, take hunting trips to the Upper Peninsula and his cabin in South Branch, Mich.

Ed especially loved John Deere tractors. He dearly cherished his family, life long friends, and singing old hymns.

In addition to his wife, Jane; Ed is survived by one son, Greg (Sandra) Lewis of Tecumseh; one daughter, Peggy (Michael) Thomas of Ossineke, Mich.; three stepdaughters, Rita (Jeff) Judkins, Shelley (Scott) Jeffrey, Barb I. (Brian) Rorrer; siblings, Ronald (Eileen) Lewis of Concord, Mich., and Mary (Timothy) Tietsema of Oscoda, Mich.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, Beverly, he was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Leslie.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at Tipton Community Church with Rev. Eric Hickman officiating. Final resting place will be at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh.

Visitation was from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Tipton Community Church.
