Elizabeth Joan Slick

Elizabeth Joan Slick, age 80 of Ridgeway, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 after a long battle with Pulmonary Hypertension Disease. She died under the loving care of her husband and Hospice of Lenawee. She was born on September 19, 1934 in Tecumseh. On October 9, 1954, she was united in marriage to Harley Slick in Angola, Indiana.Joan is survived by her husband Harley and three sons; Randy Slick of Milan, Jeff Slick of Tecumseh, and Brad (Deb) Slick of Onsted. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; Fay and Dorothy (Thomas) Hindes.Joan was a registered nurse who began her career working as a nurse for Herrick Hospital. She later worked for the Lenawee County Health Department and as a nurse practitioner for Planned Parenthood in Ann Arbor. Joan was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, a member of the Red Hatters in Clinton, and the Order of Eastern Star of Tecumseh. Joan enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family at their cottage in Gladwin. She will be greatly missed.Visitation will be held at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 3, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Britton, with Pastor Mark Zender officiating. She will be buried at Ridgeway Cemetery following the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
