Ella Mary King

Ella Mary King, age 93 of Tecumseh, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014, under the loving care of Hospice of Lenawee.Born October 10, 1920, in Manitou Beach, Mich., she was the daughter of Frank and Edna (Bittinger) Pratt. Ella Mary graduated from Addison High School and completed her schooling at Cleary College.On July 31, 1942, Ella Mary married Robert B. King, Jr. in Marquette, Mich., and he preceded her in death in 1984.Ella Mary worked as a secretary in several area businesses and retired from Bixby Medical Center with 15 years of service. She was a member of the Tipton Community Congregational Church. Ella Mary was also a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Clubs in both Adrian and Tecumseh and was honored as the Woman of the Year.Ella Mary is survived by her children: Robert (Nancy) King, III of Manitou Beach; Gregory King of Tecumseh; Catherine (Paul) Randall of Brooklyn; and Jeffery (Ada) King of New Berlin, N.Y.; granddaughters, Elizabeth, Sarah and Ashley; and great grandchildren, Korynn, Harper and Bowyn.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a half-sister, Lolita Schomp Potter.At her request cremation will take place and memorial services will be held at a later date.Contributions in memory of Ella Mary may be made to Tipton Community Congregational Church.
