Elmer E. Bohannon

Elmer E. Bohannon, 89, of Adrian, went to be with the Lord Friday, June 21, 2013, at Herrick Manor.Born August 25, 1923, in Red Bay, Alabama, he was the son of Arlander and Mattie (Blackburn) Bohannon.During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corp as a sergeant. On May 31, 1952, Elmer married Emma “Alice” Evans in Angola, Indiana, and she survives.Elmer worked for Tecumseh Products for 40 years, retiring in 1987. He was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served in many capacities including deacon, treasurer, and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the Tecumseh Masonic Lodge No. 69. Elmer enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and helping others as a handyman. Most precious to Elmer was his family including Alice, his wife of 61 years; their children: Deborah (Jim) Stephenson and Denise (Jack) Edwards, both of Tecumseh; Douglas (Julie) Bohannon of Grosse Pointe Woods; and Donna Rossell of California; grandchildren: Andrew (Lydia), Megan (Jason), Lindsey, Allison, Lacie, Thomas, Jan (Dan), Dawn, Jennifer, Daniel, Evan and Collin; great grandchildren: Norah, Justin, Normal and Linnea; and a sister, Jewel Morrow of Florence, Ala.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Tom, Everett, Omer, Bill, Gene, Floyd; and sister, Ruby Swindle.Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Wagley Funeral Home.Contributions in memory of Elmer may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Wounded Warrior Project.
