Emma “Jean” Edwards

Emma “Jean” Edwards, age 91, of Tecumseh, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Cambrian Assisted Living. She was born January 1, 1924, in Grand Island, Fla., to Raymond Charles and Purnell (Lowe) Osburn. On March 20, 1946, she married Lowell Edwards, and he preceded her in death. Jean had been employed by Porter Center. She was a doll collector, and enjoyed working on jig saw puzzles, painting and sewing. She was a big sports fan, especially for the Detroit Tigers. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh for over 58 years. After retirement she hosted reunion parties for the staff of Porter Center.Jean is survived by two sons, Scott Edwards (Cindy Calhoun) and John “Jack” (Denise) Edwards; grandchildren, Aaron (Amanda) Edwards, Courtney (Jeremiah) Villarreal, Jan Edwards (Dan Hanselman), Dawn Edwards, Lacie Swartz, and Thomas Swartz; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Lowell, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas Edwards; a daughter, Carol, at birth; brothers, Charles, James, and John Osburn and Louis Schneider; and a sister, Patricia Kennel. Jean was blessed to be reunited with all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren for the holidays and in celebration of her 91st birthday on January 1st.Graveside services for Jean were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at Ridgeway Cemetery with Rev. Richard Mortimer officiating. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.andersonfuneralservices.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to Great Lakes Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Anderson Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
