Evelyn “Lynn” D. Cook
Evelyn “Lynn” D. Cook, age 90 of Tecumseh, Mich., passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015. She was born on October 15, 1924, in Saginaw, Mich., the fourth child of Albert J. and Catherine (Ripalis) Bershing.Lynn graduated from Saginaw High School Class of 1945 and attended the Chicago Art Institute on a scholarship earned in high school and took many art courses at Sienna Heights University. She was an accomplished artist and engaged in many fields of art, such as rug hooking, sculpture, glass work and many other areas. In high school she met and later married her husband of 67 years, Charles M. Cook.She was very active in class, church and other organizations. She attended St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Ypsilanti, as well as St. Peter’s and St. John’s Episcopal Churches in Tecumseh and Clinton.Lynn is survived by her husband Charles M. Cook; son Steven J. Cook of Tecumseh, daughter Cathleen (Thomas) Knoll of Ceresco; three grandchildren Zach Cook and Alexandra and Joshua Knoll. She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Jackson and brothers Richard, Robert and David Bershing.Lynn was always a happy housewife and her children and grandchildren brought her much joy. She was cherished by her husband and other family members for the love and concern for them and her zest for life. She participated in many service and church organizations, such as the auxiliaries at St. Luke’s, St. Peter’s and St. John’s Episcopal Churches. She was active in Boy Scouts as a den mother and other positions, the Women’s Club of Clinton, Little Garden Club of Tecumseh, and her sorority and youth leader at St. Peter’s Church Sunday School, as well as many projects throughout the county.According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.Memorial contributions may be made in Lynn’s honor to the Women’s Club of Clinton.
