Fern E. Morse

Fern E. Morse of Tecumseh, Mich. passed away September 1, 2014 at the age of 88. She was born on the McCarbery Centennial Farm in Macon Township, October 25, 1925 to Charles C. and Wanda Fern (Lembrick) McCarbery. She graduated from Britton High School and on June 26, 1946 married Clair A. Morse. She was a loving wife and Mother.Fern was a life long member of the Congregational Christian Church of Britton and a resident of Lenawee County. She was employed for 30 years with the Agriculture and Soil Conservation Agency Lenawee County retiring in May 1992.She enjoyed her membership in Fairfield Chapter No. 224 Order of the Eastern Star where she holds honorary life membership. She served as Worthy Matron four times, President of the Lenawee-Monroe County Association in 1967-68, and as Grand Representative to Maryland 1989-91.She worked with youth as Mother Advisor, Advisory Board member and Grand Cross of Color Member of Adrian Assembly No. 44 Order of Rainbow for Girls. She served the Grand Assembly of Michigan as Chairmen of Grand Representatives for many years and assisted Clair in serving as Demolay “Mom” for many years. Fern has enjoyed and is grateful for the care and friendship of the Staff of Cambrian Assisted Living, Department on Aging drivers, Homestead Care Drivers and the Staff of Fresenius Dialysis of Adrian over the past few years. Fern is survived by her son, Michael and Cathryn (Keech) Morse of Jerome and daughter Kathlene Morse of Toledo, sister, Joyce and Bud Bater of Tecumseh, nieces, nephews and their children. She also leaves her “children by choice,” Gregory and Deb Wise, Joy and Rodney Wonderly, Kileen, Harold and Kallen Mohr and John and Gail Hart. She was preceded in death by her husband Clair, a daughter Jacklyn, her parents, sisters, Doris Spohr of Dundee, Wilma Tubbs of Britton, and brother, Dale McCarbery of Britton.Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 5, 2014 at Wagley Funeral Home in Adrian with Rev. Dave Welcome officiating. Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. where an Eastern Star service will take place at 7 p.m.Contributions can be made to the Grand Assembly of Michigan Order of Rainbow for Girls Scholarship Fund.
