Franklin “Frank” Schroeder

Franklin “Frank” Schroeder, age 79 of Tecumseh, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at Cambrian Assisted Living in Tecumseh under the loving care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born July 18, 1933 in Macon Twp., Mich., the son of Arthur John and LaVina (Price) Schroeder. On March 26, 1955 he married Ardyth Eaton; sadly she preceded him in death on March 31, 2009 after 54 years of marriage.Frank attended Miller School through eighth grade, and graduated from Britton High School in 1951. He was employed at the Lenawee County Road Commission as a heavy equipment operator and as a foreman for 44 years, retiring in 1995. Frank farmed all his life on the family farm until 2004 with his brother. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Britton; he was the head usher there for over 15 years, a trustee for the church for six years, and on the Board of Education for 12 years. Frank was a 4-H leader for several years. He co-owned Schroeder Brothers along with his brother Don and farmed various properties, worked for Tillotson’s Auction in Adrian, and Geiger Factory in Clinton. Frank enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and granddogs, farming, raising sheep, playing cards, traveling with his best friends Ralph and Ginny Tillotson, and was a sports fanatic, especially Michigan State and the Tigers.Frank is survived by a son, Aubrey (Carol) Schroeder of Greenfield, Ind; two daughters, Audrey (Michael) Kast of Davisburg, Mich., and Arrin (Michael) Fitzgerald of Bellingham, Mass; two brothers, Clarence Schroeder of Britton, and Donald (Margaret) Schroeder of Britton; Grandchildren, Alan (Kate), Hillary, Nathan, and Matthew Kast, and Lauren and Ryan Schroeder; and granddogs, Bubba and Honey. In addition to his wife, Frank was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Richard, Arthur Jr., Willis, and Melvin.Visitation was held on Monday, March 4 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Funeral services were Tuesday, March 5 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Britton at 11 a.m. with Pastor Douglas Adams officiating. The family received friends on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial followed the service at Brookside Cemetery.
